Purging

Before you can organize, you need to see what you have and what your needs will be.
Here are some questions to ask yourself...

From iVillager someguy71

Do I love this item?

Have I used it in the past year?

Is it really garbage?

Do I have another one that is better?

Should I really keep two?

Does it have sentimental value that causes me to love it?

Or does it give me guilt and make me sad when I see the item?

Does it make me smile?

How hard would it be to replace should I discover I need it down the road?

Can I find the information on the internet? (magazine articles, recipes, cataloges, etc.)

These are the questions that I ask myself when purging paper.

Do I really need it?

Is this out of date?

Would I waste my time by reading this?

Will I possibly receive this again?

Can I get the info from someplace else?

Is it that important?

If you have no idea why you have it - THROW IT AWAY!!!!!!!!!!

Questions I ask myself for general purging...

1. Do I like this item?

2. Is it functional? Will I use it?

3. Is this the best place for it?

The key is to be honest, if you answer yes the then you are fine. If you answer no to any of the above...you need to decide what action you will take.

Be sure to have bags or boxes for donations, a trashcan or trash bag, and remember to remove the bags when you are done for the day.
